Who is this course for?

Developed specifically for educational settings, this 2-hour course supports schools in preparing for the strengthened expectations introduced through Benedict's Law. Suitable for teachers, teaching assistants, support staff, lunchtime supervisors, office staff, senior leaders and governors, the training provides practical, confidence-building education to help create a safer environment for pupils with allergies.

Delivered by a frontline Paediatric Accident & Emergency Nurse, staff will gain the knowledge and practical skills to recognise allergic reactions, respond effectively to anaphylaxis, and manage allergic emergencies with confidence.

The course explores how to reduce the risk of allergic reactions within the school environment, recognise the early signs and symptoms of allergic reactions and anaphylaxis, administer adrenaline auto-injectors (AAIs) confidently, and understand the roles and responsibilities of school staff when responding to a medical emergency.

A range of subjects are covered including:

  • An introduction to Benedict's Law and what it means for schools

  • Developing a whole-school approach to allergy safety
